Biodiversity priorities and existence

This module seeks to identify biodiversity priorities and to estimate the 'existence value' of that biodiversity to people.

The work on biodiversity priority-setting is being led by the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and the University of Cambridge in the UK. Existing species data on birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians are being assembled and mapped in preparation for analyses of conservation priorities in the region.

The work on existence values of biodiversity is being led by University of East Anglia in collaboration with Cambridge University and WWF-US. This will use survey based techniques to gather information on how much people value the existence of the biodiversity contained with the Eastern Arc.
